The Dunwoody Dental Experience

This post is part of our 16-part mini-series of video interviews. We hope you enjoy these and please share them with your family and friends!

Dr. Minta Lopez-Torres:

From the first time that somebody answers the phone, I hope they can that we’re going to take care of them as a person.

Dr. Amy Mosseri:

What a lot of people notice is that when they walk through our front door there’s no sign in sheet–we know who all of our patients are.

Dr. Minta Lopez-Torres:

We hope that everyone who comes to our office gets a feeling that this office warm and inviting and these people really care.

Dr. Amy Mosseri:

Really the main goal for our new patients is to make sure that we can get an assessment of where they’ve been and what problems they have. No two people are the same; some may be at a higher risk for tooth decay while others may be more at risk for gum disease. We really try to assess what that specific person has for risk factors and what we need to be monitoring. So the first thing that happens when a new patient comes in our office is that we will get all of their previous dental records. If someone has had extensive dental work, we’ll then do a full series of x-rays to see how their dental work has been doing, they’re going to get a full evaluation of their gums, oral cancer screening, and an assessment of their bite. And also cosmetic evaluation.

Dr. Minta Lopez-Torres:

One of the most important things in a new patient exam is “what brought them here,” what is the thing that matters most to them. They may have 50 cavities, but what they really care about is that their front tooth is dark, or their teeth aren’t straight. So we try to assess what they want as well as what they need. So we do a fair amount of time reviewing their x-rays, screenings, etc. It’s a very thorough exam and at that point we’ll be able to give them a treatment plan of anything they need.
